DEFENSIVE ORGANISATION / part 3

Defensive Organisation 3

SET UP

  1. 20x20 yard square seperated into 4 equal zones.

  2. Two teams of 5 with 4 players in one of the middle zones and 1 player just behind them in the end zone.

THE SESSION

  1. ​One team of 4 starts with the ball with the other team stood opposite constantly shuffling left & right to leave no space or gaps the team on the ball to potentially play through.

  2. C behind the 4 defender acts a pivot to screen behind the defenders as well.

  3. The team on the ball try to score a goal through either of the two gated goals behind C.

  4. The defenders and C try to block the shot and then repeat the process themselves.

  • PROGRESSION: C can help the 4 players infront by stepping in to make a 5 when necessary.

COACHING POINTS

  1. Communication between the defenders is key

  2. Tight together to leave no major gaps

  3. Shuffle at speed but effectively

  4. Pressure on the ball

  5. C can see everything and should be vocal
